Works and Housing minister unveils government’s plan for floods, housing, water reforms |
Kenneth Gilbert Adjei Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, has assured Parliament of intensified efforts to tackle flooding, housing shortages, water challenges, and coastal erosion ahead of the rainy season. He outlined ongoing and planned interventions to strengthen infrastructure and improve living conditions. Mr Adjei gave the assurance when he appeared before the Government Assurances Committee of Parliament’s public hearing in Parliament House, Accra. “Mr Chairman, we are working closely with the relevant agencies to implement a comprehensive flood mitigation strategy,” he said, adding that dredging works were set to begin in flood-prone areas like Kwesimintsim. The Minister unveiled plans to roll out new housing projects in the Volta Region and construct affordable units in the Ashanti Region, part of a nationwide strategy to expand access to housing.
