Interior Minister asks traditional authorities to enact, enforce anti-bushfire byelaws

Muntaka MubarakAlhaji Muntaka Mubarak, the Minister of Interior has called on traditional authorities to enact and strictly enforce anti-bushfire byelaws in their respective communities, to prevent bushfire outbreaks in the 2026/2027 seasons. He emphasised that preventing bushfires remained the collective responsibility of all and directed the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), to strengthen their anti-bushfire committees and fire volunteers. Alhaji Mubarak made the call in a speech read on his behalf by Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, at the launch of the 2026/2027 national bushfire prevention campaign at Atebubu in the Bono East Region.
