Accra court convicts 106 foreigners for illegal entry into Ghana
An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced 106 persons to prison terms for entering Ghana illegally.
The court sentenced 55 persons to 28 days’ imprisonment each and another 51persons to four weeks’ imprisonment.
All pleaded guilty to charges of illegal entry.
The court ordered that the convicts be deported to their home countries after serving their sentences.
The case was first brought before the court on October 25, 2025, and on March 12, 2026, the accused pleaded guilty.
The facts presented were that on October 7, 2025, police received intelligence that more than 100 foreign nationals had been seen around Kuntunse‑Satellite in Accra.
Their mission in the area was unknown.
Police moved to the location and found the accused persons in a house.
During interrogation, they refused to provide their real identities.
They were arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters for further investigations.
Investigations established that the accused were nationals of neighbouring francophone countries who entered Ghana between January and October 2025.
They failed to report to the nearest Immigration Office to produce travel documents or complete prescribed forms as required by law.
Further investigations revealed that none of the accused had legal documents permitting them to stay or work in Ghana.
